History

Easton was founded in 1818 by a group of settlers from Kentucky. The village was named after Easton, Pennsylvania, the hometown of one of the settlers. The village was incorporated in 1872.
Easton was a major stop on the Illinois Central Railroad, which ran through the village from 1856 to 1971. The railroad was a major factor in the growth of the village, as it allowed for the transportation of goods and people to and from Easton.

Easton is located at 38°45'25"N 89°45'45"W (38.7569, -89.7625). The village is situated on the banks of the Kaskaskia River, approximately 15 miles northeast of St. Louis, Missouri.
