Wellton Summary

Wellton is a small town located in Yuma County, Arizona. It is situated in the southwestern corner of the state, approximately 40 miles east of Yuma and just south of the Gila River. The town was founded in 1884 and was named after the Wellton family, who were among the first settlers in the area. As of the 2010 census, the population of Wellton was 2,882.

Geography

Wellton is located in the Sonoran Desert, which is characterized by hot, dry summers and mild winters. The town is situated at an elevation of 1,068 feet and is surrounded by the Gila River to the north, the Gila Bend Mountains to the east, and the Gila Bend Desert to the south.
